Brookfield Asset Management and the Qatar Investment Authority have reached an agreement to invest £2.5 billion ($3.4 billion) in a data center project with UK power generator Drax Group Plc.
The initial phase, which could be operational by the first quarter of 2028, would produce up to 100 megawatts using an existing grid connection that Drax has at its power station in the north of England, according to a Tuesday statement. Subsequent phases would use power directly from the 2.6 gigawatt biomass generators the company operates. The initial investment would be provided by Brookfield and QIA.
