China warned the European Union not to underestimate Beijing’s determination to defend its interests, dismissing claims that the bloc’s pressure yielded concessions in recent automotive trade talks.
“The European side cannot fantasize about gaining benefits by exerting pressure, nor should it underestimate China’s determination and capability to protect its own interests,” the Ministry of Commerce said in a statement on Friday. “We urge the EU to work in the same direction as China to promote the sound and stable development of bilateral economic and trade relations.”
