Zhuhai Huafa Group Co., one of China’s largest local government-owned conglomerates, is in talks with creditors of some debts to push back payments, people familiar with the matter said.

The company has been asking at least three Chinese banks since last month to extend all of the loans from these institutions and reduce their interest rates, the people said. The banks hadn’t agreed on the extension terms as of last week, the people added, asking not to be identified as the matter is private.
